Lilli was originally printed in comic strips in the Hamburg newspaper Bild-Zeitung starting in 1952. She became popular enough to be immortalized in doll form for adults. In the comics, Lilli was witty, irreverent and sexually uninhibited. The doll caught the eye of Barbara Handler during a family vacation. Leading to the creation of a certain popular doll….
